Worldburners Unite See the tower through the trees Give way to smoky memories Worldburners Unite The letters and the laws The meaning and the cause Worldburners Unite And I’m not young I’m closer to death than birth And one thing that I’ve l learned Is we’ve got no place here on Earth So I say the cities and the towns We’re gonna take ‘em down Worldburners Unite What is there to do When everything we doctor When everything we build Is stained by our touch? When everywhere we go Is somewhere visited by somebody? The madness here is circular The madness here is us What is there to do When the groundwater’s poison When rabies goes pandemic Overcoming all vaccines? A network tech cuts every cord An artist breaks her easels / A painter shreds her canvas A congressman leaps from a plane And for the first time he is clean You are not a hero You are not a god You are no protagonist Advancing any plot And every grain of knowledge Over every grain of sand Is an anchor is a dragon Breeding watchfulness and rot Somewhere there’s a field of ice Somewhere there’s a ravine But I’m afraid to show you where For fear you’ll crash the scene Fly away, all senses Fly away, our spells ‘Cause nobody ever asked for us Least of all ourselves
2.
My Body Is Always Screaming My body is always screaming A thousand voices strong My heart and my mouth are bleeding noise It’s a simple fact of what i am And my body is always burning Stare at me and go blind My ears and eyes all bursting bright It’s a scorching tide It’s a battering ram Cover my face and sever these hands But the noise remains Muzzle my mouth and fetter my legs But the light still shines My body is always screaming a scream That’s unprovoked and true And no soothing hand could interrupt I’m a side effect of a deathless roar My body is always firing Ten thousand round a breath My lungs are a suffering engine Pounding to after the after, before the before My body is torching ramparts My body is breaking stone There’s fuel instead of marrow There’s fire instead of bone There’s nothing to dull the explosion There’s nothing to ease the drop My body is always screaming And this screaming will never stop
3.
Give Yourself To Fire You’re the face that steals the scene Am I mad to see that the sun dulls round you? You’re as clear as kerosene And if I shone, would you engulf that spark too, In red and gold and in blue? I’m striking the matches I’m cutting with light I silence the doubts of my haunting choir I’ll show you love if it takes all night Give yourself to fire We’ll be pulling the roof down And peeling the paint I’ll be ablaze as long as you require I’ve got the patience of a saint Give yourself to fire A squad of trucks surrounds your home And together we will endure their loud rain For the loudest call I’ve known kindles on your lips The cold world can’t contain So don’t you climb that ladder down Stay here with me where it’s warm and well lit And though this house will fall to ground The smoke that you and I become will never split In one love we’ll forever transmit See the world erupt in white We are dawn unto the night (I’ve got the blessing of the saints)
4.
Boats on Fire Their power comes from the limousine Their power comes from the yacht So let’s take their toys apart And get what they have got Their power comes from the mansion Their power comes from the suit So let’s dissect the luxuries And suckle at the root But the boats are on fire All smoking in a fleet And the limousines careen Wreaking wreckage on the street It ain’t easy deconstructing When you’re dancing to the beat But I'mma get me some Their power comes from the islands Their power comes from a watch And if we study all the angles of the second hand We can climb another notch Their power comes from a haircut Their power comes from champagne So let’s meter all the sugars and the ABVs And we’ll be ridin’ the gravy train Yeah the boats are fire As we’re taking them apart And my body is exploding As I’m searching for my heart And I’m sure that this is working Sure as I was at the start I'mma get me some
5.
Holy Fire 04:28
Holy Fire Immersed in cults and chemicals Polaroids and pentacles I read the scholarship I learned the science of the centerfolds Stay human said the dusk Stay human said the wind But I stared into sun And now I’ve seen beyond the end I’ve got no time to pray I’ve got no time to think No time to move a muscle I’ve got no time to blink I was the empty vessel The beast that hunts I wanted something Now there’s everything at once The sky multiplies and subdivides The atoms in between I leave behind the lie so serene Now I can’t deny the holy fire Better left unseen I could’ve been well satisfied I could’ve stemmed this appetite I could’ve walked a lifetime In the passage of the pacified I could’ve kept my face I could’ve kept my name If I’d stopped instead of Pushing through the barricade of flame It sure looked like the ending It sure looked like the goal It sure looked beautiful But beauty only wants control I could’ve drunk the wisdom The dignified response But I had to go and knock the door To everything at once
6.
The City Sleeps Stealing down an ally on a cold dark night I see a halo in the rain around the street light I stop and look, and listen to the sound As the raindrops penetrate the silence all around Alone, I gaze into the glistening street The distant thunder echoing my heartbeat Urging me on to a secret goal Away from the light from this lamp on a pole So I turn, slip away into the rain Drifting like a spirit through the shadows in the lane Clutching the tools of my trade in my hand An old box of matches and a gasoline can Darkness envelopes the scene like a shroud A veil of emptiness hangs from the clouds Filling up the cracks in this desolate place Cradled by the night in an icy embrace Moving to the town like a ghost in the rain A dim reflection in a dark window pane Blackness beckons from every side Creeping all around like an incoming tide A broken window in an empty house I slip inside and begin to douse The whole place with the fuel that will feed the fire And push back the night, taking me higher On out of the darkness in a deafening roar The match in my hand is the key to the door A simple turn of the wrist will suffice To open a passage to paradise I pause, I think about the past and the gloom The smell of gasoline permeates the room Everyone has a little secret he keeps I light the fires while the city sleeps The match makes a graceful arc to the floor And time stands still as I turn for the door Which explodes in a fireball and throws me to the street I hit the ground running with the flames at my feet Reaching for the night which recoils in the fire The raindrops hiss like a devilish choir Dying in the flames with a terrible sound Calling all the names of the sleepers all around But then in the arms of the night, they lay Their dreams sprout wings and fly away Out of the houses in a gathering flock Swarming overhead as I hurry down the block I make my escape with the greatest of ease And savor the darkness, drop to my knees And the lightless window, my hand on the latch I reach in my pocket, and pull out a match
7.
Light a Fire 07:12
Light a Fire You saved me from a burning house You brought me back with mouth to mouth With hands upon my chest, you pushed my heart You made it start And I all I knew at the edge of death Were your green eyes and winter breath I never heard your voice or learned your name But oh, your kiss remains Ooh Come save me once again I’ll hang onto you then Ooh I’ll bring you back to me I’ll light a fire for all to see I strike a match and call for help But they keep sending someone else Nobody’s eyes are quite so deep as yours Nobody’s hands so coarse And I’m not looking for sympathy But there’s not much of this left in me Just gotta know that I tried when it’s all said and done So I dial 9-1-1

9.
Everything Could Change Can I kill the lights, shut off the energy? ‘Cause the world is my windmill: it’s my enemy Can I kill the voice that babbles me to sleep, Warning me that this process never ends? I’ll be talking when I am dead and soil And the sound will remain when I carbonize to oil It’s the ecstasy of flying miles above the hungry war It’s the fear of concentration pulling me away once more It’s the reason that I’m lying to you, why I can’t sit still It’s the vaguest implication joining this world to my will And I don’t think I can make this stop Though everything could change in the world up top Behind my skin blares a spoken song Though everything could change it will echo on and on I’m a radio tuned to white noise in between What was hissing foreground is now a backdrop screen And should a signal emerge within this cloudy stream Would it trickle a message that I trust? Can I know that a soothing word’s not just The beginning of more grey noise to fill the dream? There’s uncertainty with every face I think I’ve seen before There’s an endless second guessing what’s behind my bedroom door There’s no doubt that every blade of grass feels urgency to speak There is writing on the wall in Braille through foothills of concrete I’m no hallucination Watch out: your vision lies For every coelacanth reborn Nine hundred oceans die I know the truth is waiting Somewhere behind the eyes It narrates beyond the story’s end Books locked from the inside “Dream never in a dream. You are all I need.” Your window wide, your soul outside Thrown fast and run far You’re not alone, you’re higher flown Than boys with one heart Stare at the sun, I’m everyone I’m bone and feather I float above the borders of Now and forever
10.
Goodnight London I thought I felt an earthquake I thought I’d had a stroke When the city full of people Turned to shadows made of smoke Now huddled with my wireless And an atlas of the Earth I’ll say my little words yes I Will spin the globe and watch it die And wish you all a fond goodbye For what it may be worth The bombers have been sighted over Paris So now it’s just a question of how long And Pittsburgh, we’ll remember you And farewell Buenos Aires And no one’s left to see the fires in Hong Kong So goodnight London, goodnight There goes Salt Lake City Where my best friend Kelly lived And through the static I can hear The sendoff in Madrid And I kissed a girl from Moscow once But now the Kremlin’s ash So please accept my little blessing song I’ll sing to all the lost as long As I’m alive—there goes Saigon In the mercy of the flash And the stars above explode eternal Ballet from the black And maybe this is fitting That we dance with light right back I never got to know Australia Sorry that I never wrote, Shanghai Lower the curtain down on Memphis Snuff out the candle on Mumbai
11.
12.
The Burial To the lighthouse that faithfully whispers the fisherman starboard To the children whose days number more than every flower in Europe To the nations who charter their florid colonial highways To the towers erected by contractors named after kings God will bury you; nature will bury you To the gunmen who guard against all of the starving God will bury you; nature will bury you To the screens and the radios where words turn to weapons God will bury you; nature will bury you To the terrified rich man God will bury you To the killer of animals Nature will bury you To the worship of justice The reliance on reason And the fire in your eyes God will bury you Nature will bury you Time will bury your bones unseen Total and absolute Infinite amplitude Till all the black is ripe in green And I’m not angry, I’m not sad I’m just stating the fact that God will bury you Nature will bury you
13.
Convincing Desert grows with hopes of kissing the jungle’s coolness To breathe in through wet sand But dead land’s where all the vectors steer Now the desert is here And she’s drowning in chaos How strong the hangman’s hands become With revolution’s swarming buzz And as the fortress crumbles He is all that upholds what there was And without the black hood And the gallows to pronounce his silent name He’ll be reborn Another hangman for the new regime What does the washed up actress turn to When her lines are cutting room debris? She charms a field commander Steals the secret plots of world war three And batting childish eyes She’s feigning drunken sloppiness While giving green light clearance To the death machines in Washington DC And where do I go now that Life has come tied me to the mast? The sirens’ voices calling “Alex Can’t you hear us? Don’t sail past This starving magic Don’t pretend that you don’t care” But I whisper, “Art is less than life itself” I’m really quite convincing
14.
The Eyes of Extinction Hiding Hiding under the ground Is the world still turning round? Writing I give names to the colors and shapes Can I recall my lover’s face? Sliding Are there a thousand animals near Or is the breathing that I hear The space from one to ten, From blue to white to grey? And when I stare into the eyes of extinction Where a memory’s asleep Where it’s unsalvageably deep Will I blend into the water of surrender And be truly, truly gone In annihilation’s splendor? Hunt me I’ll be running stray from the pack Blood and moonlight glow on my back Want me Come on and give me reason to sing Turn me into anything Confront me Because the choice is clear as ice Between the emptiness, concise And dead, or birth again A chaos shaped like God Come stare into the eyes of extinction with me And together we might see Another burning of the dawn When it’s empty up in Heaven, there among the last debris Is the seed still green and tender Of a life that’s living on
15.
Party to Say Goodbye Summer is at its height And this night will be the shortest of the year Everything is green But fifteen is old enough to feel fear And you and I feel it here Just yesterday we met And I forget how many days it’s been since then But I am leaving for lifetime I am cut off at the stem And the plane leaves at ten A.M. And my friends are all drunk outside but I don’t care At this party to say goodbye we hide upstairs On a bed that’s just three feet wide In the minutes before daylight We don’t have to act like we’re not scared We lock our hands, so small and white While our eyes are dark and filling up with rain We never kiss or really speak We can only play that tape again And again and again and again Summer is unkind It’s the time when you forget each other’s names But I remember our burning tears And how we felt the same All the embers and the flame And the music will sing till dawn As we gaze and we hold our tongues Till we’re lit by the loveless sun And the night fades to dream Till you’re vanished and I am gone And they strip this room clean Tomorrow is just outside, it strides and tears Through this party to say goodbye, and we cry upstairs On a bed that’s just three feet wide Where it feels like the whole world died But we don’t have to act like we’re not scared
16.
The Flock Headlights, one in three-ninety Why’d I leave it all behind me? You know who I am, I can see through your plan To make me free of something But what you don’t know is the reason I… You say that I’m not a real man I say what does it mean But there are parts of me that I just can’t set free For they have been merged into one You say that I don’t understand I don’t know you well enough to judge Sure as the stars you don’t know me But you’ll never know the agony Never I see now as a benefit I promise that you could never stop But you label me blackened eyes that cannot see And I label myself as the flock
17.
Come Back Broke the city streets for you Planted jungles where they burned All the roots have toppled glass and steel But you still have not returned And the tigers are dead, and the thylacine’s fled And the rain melts away their tracks But I always thought if I remade the world Then you’d come back Burst through every dam for you Made an ocean of the land Sent the poachers to the silent sky But I still don’t understand When my ear’s to the ground Then I swear there’s a sound A savage roar of attack If the echoes of the lost still pound Then why can’t you come back? The ibex of the Pyrenees Woolf, Van Gogh, and Plath Speak in Manx and speak in Beothuk Walk the long, the lonely path Where everyone, everything Sure as songbirds can sing Gazes outward from the black If the light from Heaven finds the earth Then why can’t you come back?
18.
New Year It’s a new year in an old house With more technology you’ll never understand Break out your typewriter with your “thees” and “thous” Smearing old words with your old hands You’ll call me Cassandra; I’ll call you King James And all we write is true and all of it insane But the changing of the seasons will forever stay the same, you say The infantry’s retreating Like they knew how this would end Did you hear the Germans lost the war? I bet they could use a friend Right now supper’s getting cold Right now God is growing old Right now dialect is evolving Outside this house Or so I’m told It’s a real fear for you and me Burning clothing just to keep the winter warm My fingers trace the gumline of a skeleton key Not caring whether it could open up the door And the faces at the window are children in the womb Black-eyed and still but growing every day You’ll die on the outisde or die in this room, either way Our infancy’s receding We’re a heartbeat from the end Did you hear the madmen lost the war? I bet they could use a friend Right now supper’s getting cold Right now God is growing old Right now dialect is evolving Outside this house Or so I’m told We’re stockpiling warheads, we’re stuck in the past Death is art, truth is beauty, and the first shall be last You’ll call me Athena; I’ll call you Monet When the world is falling down, crumbling like clay We’re hiding in caverns, forgetting our names We dissolve in our mythology like blood in the rain You’ll call me the lion; I’ll call you the lamb I am lost in all you are; you’re alive for what I am
19.

20.
The Shadows I’m alone in the house; the power is dead I’ve done all that I can to keep track of time in my head But what I think of as day is a twilight away I’m just a shade of grey in a black, black bed And a prayer could be water, it could fill in the gaps And a thousand Muhammeds uncork a thousand taps But somehow I am dry; from the corner of my eye I see real worlds die when they’re drawn onto maps There’s a shadow that fades in and out with the light I pretend it’s an angel, I pretend it’s a satellite And I know of course that somewhere there’s a source Taking color by force, dragging all into white Now the shadow is moving and it looks like a fist And the darkness is connecting with a pugilist kiss And I’m flying and I’m reeling and I’m seeing through the ceiling And the clouds are all revealing more and more as they twist Now it’s a wolf, it’s a bullet, it’s a mother of ten Now it’s a boulder rolling from atop the mountain again Now it’s coercing the unwilling, it’s insidious, instilling Need for sex and love of killing all the children of men Now every meaning is a ghost, each number a clown Because the blades of the engine keep spinning around Never reaching the center, knocking but they don’t enter Pulling from what is meant or projecting fatally unbound When the shadows stare back, tell me what do they see? Is there a burning bush, a lion, or a hammer in me? And tell me is it arbitrary, the images I carry? It’s between Marx and Mary and the shadows and me Yes the shadows are moving And I’m scared to know why Yes the shadows are moving And we’re all gonna die
21.
Beautiful for the Last Time Genevieve put on your jewelry And hide that handgun where they will not see Don’t mind your wrinkles, don’t mind your age Because the time has come to take the stage In that black empire dress you stole Now bravely face the night patrol And you’ll be beautiful For the last time Friedrichsain bear proud your injury Your graffiti tags and squatter luxury Because the cleanup crew is here to scrub the past And a civilized future is coming fast With the traces of ‘45 and ‘68 Forever painted over by the state So be beautiful For the last time But poor ugly child, go to the balcony Do you hear the clouds beckon with their falconry To a skylocked world will you show your face Where your burns and bends are silk and lace? Will you trade your body for falling snow? Will you blanket the ground below Where you’ll be beautiful For the first time?
22.
Escape This is a step against forgetting This is a word against the gentle voice of sleep That sings to kill so easily I want to wake the rusty clockwork I’ll pick the clenching lock that swallowed its own key And the caves will laugh and the clouds will see You break in two the ground beneath my towering fear That sometimes things really do just disappear You are the shackles gone tarnished You are at last the unharnessed You’re an escape artist You’re an escape You find the world that’s lost to me You rise in reciprocity This is escape velocity This is escape And when I step into the daylight The sun is crying at the funeral performed In memory of the night before And if I drink away a brain cell There’s one less unexpected rhyme I might reveal A dimming of the empyreal But if a bronze age hunter freezes in the ice Is it too much to ask to live twice? And if our broadcast waves bounce off of Andromeda and back I know in you the signal stays intact Every book at Alexandria Each tiger of Tasmania The love in leper colonies The dreams that fly away from me And every last of every tribe Each language known by none alive The paintings burned in World War Two They all escape oblivion in you

Buy the 7" version here: www.stormingthebase.com/seeming-worldburners-7-vinyl-white/

Following Seeming's album-of-the-year winning Madness & Extinction and their experiment with the 8-Track format comes Worldburners, an arson-themed EP that expands and deepens Seeming's endtime pronouncements.

Worldburners blasts listeners into punk territory with the bagpipe-filled scorcher "Worldburners Unite," sludges through industrial wastes with the Swans-inspired "My Body Is Always Screaming," and offers fiery alternate versions of "Goodnight London" and the title track.

This digital package adds even more burners: the genre-bending epic "Light a Fire," the searing coldwave ballad "Give Yourself to Fire," the piano meditation "Holy Fire," and a cover of the classic arsonist's tale "The City Sleeps," originally by MC 900-ft. Jesus. Also on the slate are remixes from Madness & Extinction, including efforts by Iris and AAIMON. While Seeming gear up to record their 2nd LP, the Worldburners EP clears a pyromanic path for what lies ahead!
